Macworld asks if publishers are finding iBookstore terms hard to swallow, and also thinks Amazon’s e-book marketshare could plummet. Meanwhile, Ars Technica reports that newspapers and magazines are less keen on the iPad than book publishers, and also has an interesting piece on the White House embracing e-books.
A big concern for consumers, however, is DRM. AppleInsider is reporting that Apple will offer publishers FairPlay DRM for iPad books. They also have a posted an article on publishers’ skepticism of Apple’s iPad business model; it’s interesting to note that the article does not mention publishers concerns over digital rights management. Apparently it all comes down to sharing revenue and consumer information with content providers.
